Sports massage is not only for the athlete. It can be used for the treatment of many conditions resulting from prolonged periods of sitting or standing in an unnatural postural position. It is widely used for the treatment and prevention of sports injuries, or as part of a rehabilitation programme to treat injury. It can be used as a warm up for an event, as well as the wind down after an event. It can help to improve suppleness and flexibility of muscles and joints, as well as assisting the body’s systems in functioning at their optimum level. Regular sessions can improve performance and help reduce the risk of injury.
An initial treatment will include a free postural assessment, allowing the therapist to pinpoint any postural restriction or imbalance, as this can have a negative effect on our general health and well being.
